Your home page sets the impression of your website and brand so you want to lookProfessional website building。
Whether you're looking to redesign your website or launch your company's website, keep the following 21 tips in mind。
1.Find out your offer now
Although we tend to focus on graphics rather than text when designing, both are important when planning the headers on the front page。Use cohesive visuals and text to instantly tell visitors who you are and what you offer。Your visitors should also be able to tell you what makes you different and who you work with。
2.Add a call to action at the top of the first screen
Technically, you don't have to go all call-to-action, but it's the best thing to do, and in most cases, it's a good idea。While not everyone is ready to buy the second hand they land on your site, you should be prepared for those who are willing。Consider including one of them in navigation or Heroes。
3.Use only high quality original images
Tacky gallery photos, clip art and non-HD images will no longer work。Your home page should have high quality raw images, so your website won't look like other competitors。
4.Test your design on mobile devices
By now, you already know that your website needs to be optimized for mobile devices, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will look great on every device。Since most web traffic comes from mobile devices, you need to make sure that your home page design looks exactly the same on different mobile screens before exiting the new format。
5.Use contrasting colors
Contrast allows you to make certain items on the home page jump off the screen, such as call-to-action buttons or tables。This will create a hierarchy and let visitors know what they should be aware of。
6.Add direction tips
Another way to achieve this is to use directional prompts。Directional cues (such as arrows or images of someone looking/pointing in a particular direction) help the user's eyes flow naturally from one section of the home page to another。It helps guide people through the next step in the sales process。
7.Slide the slider or turntable open
Remember seeing the sliding header and how great you thought it was?Fast forward a decade and they no longer have exactly the same effect。Sliders make for a bad user experience, throwing too much information at the user at once, and running the risk of missing out on the things you really care about。Ditch the carousel and focus your content on the one action you really want someone to perform。
8.Use blank
Have you noticed that modern web pages are much more cluttered than those of the past? This is because Web designers have learned to embrace the space and the result is greater concentration and more "friendly" design.。
9.Remove the sidebar
Like sliding headers, sidebars have been a staple in Web design for years, but are obsolete as far as we know。Sidebars clutter up your page and distract from the content at hand。We moved away a few years ago and we never looked back。
10.Add real product photos
Whenever possible, include photos of real products, not models。Everyone likes to see a purchase before they buy it, and real product photos can help your "buyer persona" envision themselves using the product。If your product is actually a service, show it to your employees!
11.Thematic video
Video is the most engaging media format, and it's one of the most powerful additions to any home page design。Even short animated videos explaining your product/service are great and easy to make。
12.Create emotion with color
Colors have an emotional appeal, and the colors you choose for your home page should not only match your brand, but also relate to your organization。
13.Add social proof
Proof with a "with" logo and a trust seal are both good choices for social proof - showing your visitors that your company is legitimate and reliable。
14.Copy limit
Keep your sentences short and your paragraphs no longer than two or three sentences at most。Too many copies will make the page look cluttered。You want to tease your content on the home page to encourage people to click through and browse your other pages。
15.Consider search functionality
The search bar is very convenient for visitors to quickly find what they are looking for on your website, especially if a lot of content has been created。This is not a necessity for a home page, but it can also give you insight into what users are looking for once they arrive at your site。
16.Maintain balance and structure
When your design is out of balance, it provides a poor user experience。Our eyes seek balance, and poor construction makes the appearance clumsy, thus reducing brand value。
17.Accent format
In the past, there weren't too many unique fonts to choose from that didn't make your brand look unprofessional, but now there are a huge number of beautiful fonts to use, such as colors, typography that can help evoke certain emotions 。If you don't want to spend money on fancy kits, check out Google Fonts for the many * free options。
18.Include blog points
You want to engage visitors with your blog content, and one effective way to do this is to add a section with thumbnails of recent posts to promote your blog on the front page。
19.Optimized load time
Some aspects of the design can only be seen on the back end, such as how the website loads。Making your home page load faster won't affect the look, but it can make people enjoy your design faster - and it's very useful for SEO。
20.Use smart content
Although it's a bit advanced, personalized content or "smart content" is great for providing an experience for your buyer role。You can use it on the home page to display visitors
21.Update frequently
After a while, your home page design will become stale。It's always nice to make small tweaks and improvements every few months or so to keep your front page relevant。
